Sometimes you just have to write…

About me

I have yet to write the great American novel, and probably never will, but sometimes I just feel the urge to write. This mostly happens when I’m traveling, so that’s when I post here the most.

I live in Groningen, in the northeast of the Netherlands, but come from Connecticut originally. I’ve lived here long enough to feel like it’s home — most of the time, at least. My husband, Albert, is Dutch, which is why I’m here. We have two kids: a daughter who isn’t a kid anymore and is studying graphic design in the UK and a son who’s in the equivalent of 9th grade. We also have a foster daughter who’s moved out to study hotel management, and an “extra son” who’s a teenager and lives with us but isn’t a foster kid.

What I spend most of my time doing is teaching, and all the related paperwork around it. Job #1 is teaching English and Theory of Knowledge to the equivalent of 11th and 12th graders at an international school. Job #2 is teaching future English teachers at a teacher-training college up in Leeuwarden.

So that’s me in a nutshell. I hope you enjoy what I post here; feel free to leave comments!
